My dear friends,
I have some wonderful news to share. A lot has happened since I left Ontario for Rwanda last summer. The Lord has moved in many amazing ways in my life. I have learned so much, and have had many incredible experiences. One of my greatest blessings has come in the form of a wonderful young man I met last August. His name is David Leatherwood.
On Friday the 5th of March, David asked me to marry him... and I said, "Yes!" We plan to be married this July.
When I look at how the Lord has led my life, and how he has brought all these good things about, my heart fills with joy and awe. What a good God we serve!
Thank you so much to all of you who have poured out your lives into me, mentoring me, teaching me, loving me, and praying for me. I love you all!
May the Lord's blessing rain upon each of you, and may each of you see Jesus in some way today. Much love!

I am writing this letter to share with you an exciting and challenging ministry opportunity God has presented to me! I will be going to Kigali, Rwanda to teach at Kigali International Community School (KICS) beginning this August 2009. I am thrilled with this chance to teach in Africa, which has been a life-long dream of mine. If you’re receiving this letter, you have a great opportunity to impact not only my life with your support, but also the lives of many children in Kigali.
Kigali International Community School (KICS) offers a North American education, supporting classes Kindergarten through Grade 12. Founded in 2006, KICS is currently in the process of seeking accreditation through Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI), with whom it is a member. I will be the new grade 5 teacher at KICS; a grade level that I have taught before and absolutely love! God has certainly had his hand upon me throughout this entire process. It was completely led by Him and I am open to do His will - doing whatever and going wherever He wants me. And in this case, it’s teaching elementary school in Rwanda!
I want to do my part to help make a difference in the world. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” I desire to do that in my life - trust in Him to lead me. And he certainly has called me to dedicate every area of my life to Him in service.
As you can see, I'm excited about the opportunity and experience that lies ahead. I hope you see the value in this ministry. As you can imagine, a trip like this requires support from a number of people and there are a couple of ways you can help me. First, prayer is essential and I would love it if you would pray for me regularly. Prayer is the fuel that will allow me to be successful as I follow God's leading in ministry in Rwanda. Second, I am in need of financial support in the amount of $900/month for the year that I am away. This provides health insurance and some basic necessities, while KICS also provides a small monthly salary. If you are able to assist me financially, I would greatly appreciate it. You may send a cheque to Canadian Baptist Ministries (account #: S3285) or simply visit http://www.cbmin.org/cbm/support-cbm for a variety of ways to donate. If donating online, you can find my name under the drop-down menu for short term missions (STM – RWANDA VAN ARRAGON KICS). Any amount over $15 is tax deductible and you will receive a tax receipt.
